I haven't writen antthing in a while, anyway this march breck my family went to cuba ,mom,little little brother, nana, grandad and me. My little brother and dad stayed home. We went to La Selina (which means salt in spanish cause half of it was built on a saltwater marsh) Its a four star hotal thats pretty new and mom says shes ever going there again. She and my grandfather called La Selina a shit hole!

First of all we arrive and go to this room to check in, its around 1-1:30, they tell us are rooms will be ready by 3:30-4! We can use everything and all but are rooms arn't ready. We sit there for a half hour cause we can't change into a bathing suit anywhere, and theres no where to go. We get on of the bell boys/golf cart driver (we get to ride golf carts in certain resorts if there spread out over a ways) to drive us + bags to our room. We open it to find IT IS ready and clean too.

Second the food in Cubas not the best but they had the worst food ever. Moms word for it was big slop and my little little brother calls it the Barfet (Its really called the buffet but on the third day there at supper he trow up everywhere) They do have a nice place by the noisy pool (and there's a quiet pool too) where you could order lunch.

Third we kinda of where sick its not the resorts falt (although the mixed smell of fish,slop and other various thins at the barfet didn't help) and the third night when my little little brother barfed I was just starting to eat again.

Fourth there was some kind of travel across canada thing for 15-17 year olds, there where 700 of them at our resort out of 2500ish people (resort can hold 3000 tops) they had unlimted drinking + free drinking and had parteys till 4 in the mourning luckly we arrived as they where leaving although there where 100 left. They left after 2 or 3 days.

Fifthly there was a mess every where (mostly after the 17 year old party animals went through) theres this square where a band plays and you can buy a souvenir and after we saw them fill 2 black garbage bags full of plastic cups and straws. The 17 year olds would show up with bottles of wine in there hands drinking from the bottle it was crazy.

Sithly theres these two stray dogs there. On a small terrior thats srufy with its ribs show and another white dog a bit bigger that looks so sick it should be put down. We saw the white dog at the place where you wash sand of your feet after you come from the beach, ( we where just leaving to go to our rooms to get cleaned up fpr supper) It was liking up sand trying to get water. We pushed the button for water so it could get a drink. It was sad looking...

Seventhly theres a group of about 21 small buildings that can hold 150ish maybe more people a building. On either side of the resort was construction for makeing new resorts plus like I said the lower circle (theres two circles upper and lower, upper in middle is queit pool lower noisey/crazy pool) ,where we where staying at, the lower circle, which was built on a filled up swamp. So there where tons of misquto's they where peppered on the celling of a tunnel that runs in the building. Every night I had to listen to there whines in my ear. Friends that where staying at the upper part didn't get one mosqito at all! Well maybe like two but that was it we'ed spend an hour trying to kill them all every day! They liked anything that had salt water on it + the bath room.

Eightly only adds to the crapyness of the trip in some ways but in others it was awsome. We went to the airport to go home and get on the plane, We do finale check and go down the runway to take off. I couldn't fell the plane rising, theres this weird feelng you can feel when the flaps are pushed up a kind of heaveyness cause where rising. All of a sudden the brakes slam on and we turn off the runway. I thought he overshoot it or somthing, didn't have enough room. Turns out the whole hydrolics systeme isn't working, if we would have lifted off and it failed we wolud have crased. And there we sit on the plane for another 2 hours cause air transits arguing with Cuba whethier or not to take us off the plane or not. We get of and it turns out the hydrolic fluides are leaking out the right wing. We wait for 9 hours at the airport! Finally they have to fly another plane down with a spare part in it. We all go to the Melia Varadero to wait like 12 hours. Its a five star resort with a miny rain forest in the middle, plants and a pond with some foot long goldfish! The food there was amazing (whitch was the good part of the all this) It sucked though cause we had to get up at 2 in the mourning so our plane could leave at 4. Plus the hydrolics controle the door to the luggage and we only had our carry ons to take to Malia, no bathing suits or anything (we packed as if we where spending somewhere over night but I though it would be in the east-coast cause of the snow storm not back in cuba!)

Meanwhile there was a 50-50 chance we would have to land somewhere else cause Halifax was having a snowstrom. That would mean 1 more night somewhere else (probably Quebec, somewhere) but luckly we made it throught the blowing snow (we got like 15-30cms of snow!)
Welcome home!

So to all my friends out there woundering where the hell I was monday and tuesday, Well monday I was supposed to spend the day travailing but, we kinda got stuck in Cuba, I had 3-4 hours of sleep. Sleeping on the plane sucks and we've been busy unpacking our luggage. I am really tired and hungrey after not eating for a week. (I'm going to have to go buy a new wardrobe!) When at the Melia's my grandad and I thought our plane crashed and we where in paradise, that's how good the food tasted there compared to that other "shit-hole".

All in all im still alive maybe a bit more tanned and freckled and a little pealy plus tired and a size smaller but I'm in on piece still! Its still snowing, I guess thats Nova Scotia's welcome home present.
